Tesla Hikes Model 3 Performance Price

Tesla revealed the new 500-plus-horsepower version of its Model 3 Performance sedan just three weeks ago, and already, the model has seen two price increases.

The new Model 3 Performance now carries an asking price of $56,630 ($54,990 plus $1,650 in mandatory fees — $1,390 for delivery and a separate $250 “order fee.”) That’s $2,000 more than three weeks ago, after two separate $1,000 increases.

The price hikes may be over. The Model 3 is eligible for the $7,500 federal EV tax rebate. The rebate doesn’t apply to cars with manufacturer’s suggested retail prices (MSRPs) over $55,000. So Tesla can’t raise the price another $10 without functionally raising it by thousands for most buyers.

The new Model 3 Performance boasts over 500 hp, a claimed zero-to-60 time of 2.9 seconds, and all-wheel drive (AWD) courtesy of front and rear electric motors.
