Recall Alert: Audi E-Tron GT

Audi has recalled 9,653 e-tron GT electric cars from model years 2022-2024, including some high-performance RS models, because of a brake problem.

The company tells the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that the front axle brake hoses in the cars can develop cracks and leak brake fluid. That will reduce the effectiveness of the front brakes.

The recall is identical to one issued last week affecting the Porsche Taycan, which shares many parts with the e-tron GT.

The rear brakes are powerful enough to stop the car on their own. However, a loss of braking power can increase the distance required to stop, which could contribute to an accident.

Audi says it knows of no accidents or injuries but two warranty claims related to the problem.

Dealers will fix the issue by replacing the front axle brake hoses and the clamps that hold them in position with parts of a new design that should prevent cracking.

Automakers try to reach every owner with recall notices, but some always slip through the cracks. That leaves millions of Americans driving cars with safety defects eligible for free fixes. Find out if your vehicle has unaddressed recalls at our recall center.
