Kia Teases Rakish EV6 Update

The Kia EV6 is already one of the most assertive-looking cars on the road. Kia’s 2-row midsize electric vehicle (EV) is a practical family hauler, but it looks fast sitting still. A sharp front end (Kia calls it the “tiger nose”) and broad shoulder line make it one of the sportiest-looking SUVs ever.

Photos don’t do it justice because your brain wants to imagine it as a smaller car, a sort of hot hatch, but it has a longer wheelbase than a Chevrolet Blazer.

The EV6 is about to look more aggressive.

Kia teased the 2025 version of the EV6 on a Facebook page aimed at its home market of South Korea this week. However, we’re sure this is the car coming to the U.S. next year.

The update is what the auto industry calls a “midcycle refresh” – styling changes but not a complete redesign. The photos don’t show the whole car. They show a dramatic reimagining of the car’s nose and lighting signature.

Kia designers call their new lighting theme “star map lights.” First seen on the EV9, the look uses straight lines joined at triangular points for a futuristic appearance. On the 2025 EV6, they’re stylized fishhooks. Next to an even narrower slit of a false grille, they look fantastic.

The rear shows off a narrower strip of red running the full length of the trunk, arcing down to a pair of triangular points.

That’s all we can tell until Kia releases more angles. We don’t expect major engineering changes since the EV6 is so new, but automakers make incremental improvements to power and range between model years of many EVs. We wouldn’t be surprised to see some minor updates to the specifications.

We may wait several months for more news. Kia hasn’t even announced this update to the U.S. market yet.
