Jeep Shows Interior of Wagoneer S EV

Jeep’s first electric vehicle (EV) will have a screen-heavy interior with a squircle-style steering wheel and a dial for a gear selector.

“Squircle?” you ask. A squared circle. Like a flat-bottomed steering wheel, but with a flat top to match, the squircle gives drivers the curved edges they’re used to in the spots most place their hands. But the flat top allows easier visibility of the driver’s instrument screens that have replaced gauge clusters in most cars.

The first electric Jeep is the Wagoneer S — a 2-row midsize SUV likely to arrive in the 2025 model year. It’s more of a pavement performer than the off-road-centered Jeep you might have imagined. But Jeep has all-electric off-road SUVs in the works, too. The rugged Jeep Recon is likely to follow it shortly.

Jeep promises the Wagoneer S will get from 0-60 mph in just 3.5 seconds. It produces around 600 horsepower, Jeep says.

Inside, it will “feature a standard dual-pane panoramic sunroof and, expanding the Jeep brand’s exclusive collaboration with McIntosh, will offer a discerningly tuned, segment-exclusive, 19-speaker, premium flagship McIntosh audio system.”

The first interior photos show four screens in the front row alone. They include one for the driver, one for the passenger, and two stacked in the center, with the top showing audio controls and the lower one controlling climate settings.
