2025 Subaru Forester Starts at $31,090

Subaru will introduce an all-new Forester for 2025, but an all-new Subaru is always a lot like the old Subaru. Few automakers have a formula so successful. Subaru fans rely on the company to improve where they can but change little unless necessary.

That description applies to the 2025 Forester, which is entirely new but not terribly different from previous versions.

It rides on a stiffened version of the same chassis as the 2024 model and uses the same 2.5-liter boxer engine, making 180 horsepower. That power goes through a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) to all four wheels through the beloved Subaru symmetrical all-wheel drive (AWD) system.

Handling improves thanks to a steering rack ported over from the sporty WRX. New cabin tech includes a portrait-oriented 11.6-inch central touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in most trims. Base models get a 7-inch screen instead. It also incorporates What3Words technology – a more precise form of location-targeting that can get you to a particular trailhead or the back door of a large building.

New seat designs minimize fatigue, Subaru says.

Hybrid Coming, Forester Wilderness Carries Over From 2024

There will likely be two other Forester models on the lot next year.

Subaru says the off-road-specialist Forester Wilderness “carries over from the 2024 model year, continuing in production alongside the all-new 2025 Forester.” The Wilderness model gets a beefed-up suspension, added ground clearance, skid plates to protect from trail damage, and bright orange accents to set it apart. Subaru hasn’t said whether its price will change. In 2024, it starts at $36,315.

Subaru has also hinted heavily that a hybrid version will appear sometime in the 2025 model year. However, the company offered no new information on that one with this pricing announcement.
